AN ASHMONT man has been sentenced to three years and nine months' jail for stealing about $7500 worth of valuable musical instruments and other items during a break-in during February 2018.

Dwayne Mark Ashton, 37, appeared via video link in Wagga District Court on April 16 after pleading guilty to break and enter to steal, stealing a car, possessing illicit drugs and hindering police.
Among the stolen items from the residence at Allambie Way, Mount Austin, were multiple guitars, amplifiers, an electronic drum kit, laptops, knives, perfumes and a Rolling Stones collector's item.
While convicted of drug possession, there were no further penalty and the drugs, which were two tablets of Buprenorphine, were destroyed.
Ashton will be eligible for release in February 2022.
