But, for many families the chocolate craze started sooner than expected with Easter egg hunts happening throughout the city on the long weekend.
Wagga's Bidgee Strawberry and Cream farm was one of the businesses that had people looking in every nook and cranny for Easter Bunny's sweet treats.
While honing their chocolate-seeking skills, the egg-hunters came face-to-face with Dougal Bear and the Easter Bunny who was hopping around the strawberries.
Bidgee Strawberry and Cream farm owner Michael Cashen said there was an "overwhelming" support for the event with over 1500 people out in the fields.
Mr Cashen said the event raised over $1000, which exceeded their target. The proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Council.
"We want to make this an annual event because it is raising money for a good cause," he said.
"Most people are touched by cancer in some way and this event is a good opportunity to come together at Easter, bring some fun for the kids and raise money for a good cause."
