According to a Murrumbidgee Health Spokesperson, the 18-year-old male was taken to Wagga Base after the incident, having suffered cardiac arrest, but has since been transferred out to Sydney.
A spokesperson for the St George Hospital told The Daily Advertiser he remains in a critical condition.
A Defence spokesperson said an Australian Army recruit was injured during routine training.
"The recruit was evacuated to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and is currently receiving treatment," the spokesperson said.
"The incident is currently under investigation and therefore no further information is available at this time."
