A big crowd turned out to watch Wagga Tigers down arch-rival Turvey Park by 14 points at Maher Oval, in a standalone AFL Riverina fixture.
Turvey Park was the club to lead the way, on the back of AFL Riverina's encouragement, and traditional rivals Wagga Tigers agreed to follow suit.
Turvey Park president Stephen Stapleton hailed the day a success and said the Bulldogs would be keen to be involved again going forward.
"We would be delighted to be involved in it," Stapleton said.
"The crowd was amazing today. It was a really big crowd, there were people here that hadn't been to the footy in a long time and people from plenty of other clubs that were just looking for something to do.
"I think the gate would be good, the canteen would be good. It was fantastic."
Stapleton was also pleased with how his club performed.
"It's been fantastic. We saw three really competitive games of footy, we were a bit undermanned in the seniors, but I think anyone who wasn't pleased with the boys' effort today is hard to please," he said.
Wagga Tigers coach Troy Maiden also backed the Good Friday fixture.
"I think it's great," Maiden said.
"We had a pretty big crowd here. I turned up early this morning and there were cars right around the ground.
"I think it's a good initiative. I saw Curl (Carroll) said in the paper the other day that he hopes it becomes an annual event and I tend to agree. It would be awesome."
