Instead the meeting was abandoned prior to the first race due to concerns over a section of the track.

A soft spot around the turn home was the cause of the dramas and saw the track deemed unsafe for racing by stewards.

Stewards were not prepared to push the start of the meeting back to allow for remedial repairs.

Wagga Greyhound Club racing manager John Patton was disappointed to lose the 11-race card.

"I'm devastated," Patton said.

The $1670 to the winner Ladbrokes Daily Video 5th Grade Final (320m) was the feature event for greyhounds who qualified from heats on April 5.

It adds to a number of lost meetings the club has lost this year after a long, hot summer.

The club is preparing for a big month in May with three meetings including the heats and final of the Graeme Hull Memorial Wagga Gold Cup.

Patton is hopeful track problems won't interfere with their biggest night on May 24.

"Hopefully we can go ahead," he said.

Wagga's next meeting is on May 10 with the heats of the cup a week later.
