The Bathurst trainer lines up Courtsinsession and Conviction in the group three feature on Easter Sunday.
He doesn't believe there is much between the pair.
Courtsinsession hasn't missed the top two in seven starts since joining the stable this season.
He is stepping up in grade for the $30,000 race but Turnbull believes he deserves a crack at the next level.
"I can't fault him at the moment," he said.
"He's always been a nice horse and some horses just click with your stable and others don't but he just seems to be liking the way we're training him."
On the other hand, Conviction has class on his side.
He was racing against Australasia's best in the Inter Dominion series in December but hasn't won since taking out the Goulburn Pacers Cup in January.
However two of those races were in group one company.
Conviction disappointed with a last placed finish at Menangle last time out, but Turnbull expects he will be much better this time around.
"There is not much between them," Turnbull said.
"Conviction was a little bit disappointing last start but we might have got a little bit fat inside as I haven't been racing him as much.
"We've kicked his work up a bit."
Son Mitch takes the drive on Courtsinsession while Steve will behind the reins on Conviction.
He believes daughter Amanda is the pair's biggest danger with Executive Dash, a winner of seven of his last nine starts.
Especially after drawing inside Courtsinsession on the front row.
Turnbull isn't a prolific visitor to Wagga, but usually tastes success when he ventures south and is keen to check out the new track.
He's heard some good reports.
"Amanda speaks very highly of it, she loves it, so we will go down and if we get our bums kicked we will have to look at other avenues," Turnbull said.
He's also got a strong hard in some other features on the card with Yianni and Saint Emilion in the Rising Stars for the two-year-old, Myra Dawn in the Wagga Oaks and Firestorm Red and Smooth Cash in the Wagga Derby.
The first of nine races starts at 12.15pm with the cup to run at 4.15pm.
Turnbull also lines up a couple of good chances in the heats of the West Wyalong Pacers Cup on Saturday.
He has Maximus Red and Art Series engaged in the first of two heats on the non-TAB program with last start winner Little Bit Dusty in the second.
A $18,000 final will be run next Sunday.
