Geshe Tenzin Zopa, 42, visited Wagga over the Easter weekend after recently being the recipient of the 2019 World Congress Prize for Global Peace Leadership and Excellence.

"It was a surprise for me that I never expected, but it was a wonderful experience," he said.

"I have been travelling around the world talking about the power of the ordinary individual to make the world a better place."

Geshe Zopa said a common misconception is that Buddhism is too hard to understand.

"There are two simple concepts to understand," he said. "One is the wisdom of non-violence and the second is understanding the inter-dependency."

Geshe Zopa had one message to share with Wagga.

"Everyone can find peace and happiness," he said. "Instead of waiting for your wishes to be fulfilled from the outside world, change your perception and think and act positively."
