Freeman was contesting an aerial kick when he fell awkwardly on his left shoulder during the first half of Young's loss to Gundagai at Alfred Oval.
Coach Roy Jewitt said it's likely they'll be without Freeman for the rest of the year.
"It's disappointing for us because Nayah had been one of our best players in the opening two weeks," Jewitt said.
Also under injury clouds are forwards Haydn Cowled and Kyle Richens, who both came from the field with ankle injuries.
Both are expected to miss at least the clash with Brothers following the Easter break, while lock Blake Hewitt is still sidelined with an AC joint injury from the loss to Kangaroos to start the season.
"It's not an ideal start but injuries are part and parcel of contact sport," Jewitt said.
"Hopefully Blake is right for our next match, he'd have had three weeks off by then. Let's hope it'll be right."
Jewitt couldn't confirm who will wear the number one jersey for the rest of the year.
"I'm not 100 per cent sure at this stage," he said.
"We have a couple of options but it's whether we should move players from positions they've been playing.
"Boro [Aborosio Navori] could go back there but he's been outstanding at centre."
Another option is James Schiller who played off the bench after an ankle injury in the 38-30 loss to the Tigers.
Jewitt was disappointed with how the side started the clash, trailing by 22 points at half-time but was thrilled with their second half performance.
They closed within four points before the premiers sealed the win with a late try.
The Englishman is hoping it will give them confidence moving forward.
"We showed some good signs in the second half once we realised our capabilities," Jewitt said.
"Once we realised what we can do we turned things around but you can't give sides 28 points at half-time and expect to win.
"We could have won believe it or not but you can't be doing that every week."
With two losses to start the season, Jewitt is looking for a more complete performance against Brothers at Equex Centre next Sunday.
"We've got to start winning some games, I'm confident that we will, and I think the boys are now," he said.
"I think after the Kangaroos game, where we probably expected to win that one, maybe they went in with a mindset of playing the minor premiers that we weren't going to win.
"It's just a mental thing and something we have to get over."
