The Diesels were smashed by Southcity 58-4 at Harris Park on Sunday in a game where little went right.

Second rower Richie Herangi only lasted 22 seconds before injuring his ankle in one of the first hit ups of the game and things didn't get much better from there.

Captain-coach Trent Schubach is hoping the extra week will give the side plenty of time to recover and potentially get a few of their depleted playing stocks back.

"We lost three or four blokes through the week, which put us on the back foot to start with, and had three or four of us under an injury cloud coming in," Schubach said.

"We were a bit under the pump to start with then got an injury in the first 30 seconds to lose a rotation and a back rower.

"We were shuffling people around all week didn't help our prep and didn't help our warm up as we didn't have everyone there.

"We will just leave that week out and start again after Easter."

Junee have plenty of injury concerns at the moment and it's been a real trend since Schubach took over the coaching responsibilities.

Hayden Diggins and Pat Guthrie didn't line up to tackle the Bulls while the coach, Herangi, Chris Lewis and Rusiate Kaliseiwaqa all carried injuries into the clash.

Tristan Dickson and Matt Hands are also working their way back from more serious injuries, but are still some time away.

Junee scored a 36-24 win over Cootamundra to start the season and despite Southcity slipping up against Temora in round one, Schubach thought another slow start proved costly at Harris Park.

It's something he wants the side to address if they are going to be in the finals hunt once more this season.

"We didn't play all the good of footy last week but just hung in there and got away with it in the end," Schubach said.

"You just can't play like that and start slow against good sides as they just put you away and you can't get back in the game.

"We started slow last week and started slow again this week but Southcity are a good side, they don't give a chance to get back into it.

"We have to leave that week along and build on the back of it come Tuesday at training."

After the general bye for the Easter break Junee has another tough task ahead of them when they host Tumut at Laurie Daley Oval on April 28.

The Blues are one of the two teams to win both their games so far after wins over Brothers and Temora at Twickenham.
