After finishing the first half level at 0-0, neither side was able to make the breakthrough required even with a plethora of chances falling to the home side as the game near its conclusion.
Kyle Greaves had a great opportunity to open the scoring when he was found in the box by Michael Cimador only to blast his shot over the crossbar while Connor Sully and Nicholas Kennedy combined well but were unable to apply the finishing touch.
That would be the story of the second half for the Hanwood side with the side netting getting peppered as they were unable to get the shot to trouble the keeper.
Coach Anthony Agresta feels the game could serve as a bit of a reality check after a big win last weekend.
"We had our chances but in saying that I said to the boys during the week that they will come here with a plan and they stuck to it," he said.
"Credit to them they picked up a point away from home.
"It is probably good in a way as a bit of a reality check not only for our boys but also everyone else out there in the rest of the competition who thought we were just going to waltz away with it.
"I wasn't getting carried away after last week, and it just proves that we are in for a battle and that's what we wanted coming into this competition."
The best chance fell for the visitors fell to Patrick Hislop, but his shot was directed straight at Bryce Crawford in the Hanwood goal as both sides had to settle for a nil-all draw when the final whistle blew.
With a couple of players nursing slight niggles including left-back Anthony Agresta, the Hanwood coach feels Easter has come at the right time.
"He (Anthony Agresta) did his hamstring in preseason, so it was just more of a precaution more than anything," he said.
"There are a few others with little niggles. We have two weeks off now with Easter, so hopefully, that will freshen everyone up."
When the competition gets back underway in two weeks, Agresta knows where his side needs to improve.
"We defended ok, I just don't think with the ball that we were patient enough," he said.
"We rushed things too much. I don't know if it was the way the competition we played in over the last couple of years was played but this is more patient football, and we have to learn to adapt."
Hanwood faces a trip back over to Wagga when the competition resumes to take on Henwood Park on Saturday, April 27.
