Racing Victoria launched an investigation into 10 bets placed by Souquet.

Stewards charged the 45-year-old hoop on Monday.

Souquet was not riding in any of the races in which he allegedly had a bet.

However, under the rules of racing jockeys are not allowed to bet on any race.

Racing Victoria stewards charged the heavy-weight jockey for breaching AR 115(1)(c) of the Australian Rules of Racing which states:

AR 115(1) A jockey or apprentice jockey must not:...

(c) bet, or have any interest in a bet, or facilitate a bet on any race;

A Racing Victoria statement alleged Souquet ''made, and/or facilitated the making of, and/or had an interest in, 10 bets on thoroughbred horse races on November 10, 2018, with the bets placed totalling $125."

A date for the hearing is yet to be set.

Souquet declined to comment when contacted by the Border Mail on Monday.

The talented hoop is free to ride until the hearing.

Souquet's betting charge follows those against fellow riders Daniel Schmitt, John Roberston and Chris Caserta.

Caserta received a four week suspension in March after he pleaded guilty to placing six bets totalling $49.

Souquet has ridden 1199 winners.
