The drive will take just over half-an-hour from Wagga and once you arrive there's enough to do to keep you and your family entertained for the day or the entire weekend.
Junee was first formed in 1878 when the Great Southern Rail line was built. This line made Junee a busy and prosperous town in its day.
Today the history of this era is alive and well with many of the historical buildings in the town still resembling that time and are well preserved.
When most people think Junee they think the Licorice and Chocolate Factory and Monte Cristo Homestead (the haunted house) but the town has so much more to offer.
Railway
Railway square
Located in the heart of Junee, this elegant square was designed and built in French Renaissance style in 1881. With its sweeping platform and beautiful cast iron verandahs, Junee's Railway Square brings back to life the time when people walked to the shops, strolled on Sundays and journeyed by steam train. Railway Square comes to life for the monthly Junee Farmers Market on the first Sunday of the month.
Railway station cafe
This cafe is based in the ornate and substantial turn-of-the-century railway refreshment building, which features three-metre mirrors, six-metre ceilings, cast iron columns, oak counters and an old woodfire oven.
