Ladysmith trainer-driver Ross Arentz enjoyed a win with his first drive at the new multi-million dollar Wagga track courtesy of Zoes Regal ($8.00).
It was not without a few anxious moments as the five-year-old overcame a few rough strides early in the affair to take out the $10,000 final.
Arentz parked Zoes Regal behind the leader Monterei Duke ($19.00) and then sprinted past the Young pacer in the straight to win by a couple of metres.
It was Zoes Regal's first win in a Reward Series final after four previously unsuccessful attempts.
Meantime, 11-year-old pacer Beetson ($6.50) came out of retirement to set a new track record for the 2270 metre journey on Sunday.
Beetson clocked a mile rate of 1:56.0 for the longer trip.
It was his first start since April last year, with trainer Peter Trevor-Jones deciding to bring him back into work.
It was the second leg of a winning double for former Junee reinsman Cameron Hart, who was also successful earlier in the day on the Paul Kahlefeldt-trained Seattle Trace ($5.50).
