Wagga resident Lionel Hocking Barnes said at about 11.40pm on Wednesday night a police pursuit raced past their home.
"We heard sirens in the distance further away and getting closer for about 10 minutes before they finally come racing behind the back of our house on Red Hill Road and up past Jubilee, there were so many police cars following," he said.
"The sirens went for so long they woke my young son up, he was terrified as to what was happening as they flew past the back of our house."
NSW Fire and Rescue crews responded to five calls on the evening of March 26, while Wednesday night saw crews being sent out to another four locations across the city. According to NSW Fire and Rescue zone commander Stewart Alexander, crews responded to a hoax call at Banks Avenue on Tuesday night.
"The malicious false alarm was made at 3.20pm and then at 6.15pm we were called to a small Ashmont home in Tobruk Street," Mr Alexander said.
"There was damage to the kitchen, laundry and bathroom causing smoke and water damage throughout.
"It was a NSW Housing premises and the occupant was displaced there." Mr Alexander said from the Ashmont fire, crews then responded to house fire on Tichborne Crescent in Kooringal at 7.40pm.
"A microwave caused the fire and it was contained to the kitchen, but it was quite minor," he said. "Another crew also put out a yard fire shortly after 7pm at Baird Avenue, Kooringal, and then returned to the site at 8.40pm to extinguish the fire again.
"Then at 20 minutes to 8pm, there was an unknown rubbish fire in Tolland, so it was a very busy Tuesday."
The jobs did not end there for firefighters, who responded to tree, grass and yard fires late evening on March 27 and into the early hours of Thursday.
"We were called to a yard fire at 8.30pm at Connorton Avenue, Ashmont, and then again at 9.25pm," Mr Alexander said.
"There was also a large tree on Wren Street, Mount Austin, but crews were only there for about 10 to 15 minutes.
"There was also an unknown fire which we quickly put out at about 9.30pm, we had another false alarm at 11.45pm at Glenfield Park on Dalman Parkway and then again at 12.05am where there was no sign of fire."
Mr Alexander said a hoax call is a very serious offence.
"The big message here is that if anyone needs to report a fire or another emergency they must call Triple 0, but a hoax call is a very serious offence," he said.
"It causes a great deal of inconvenience to firefighters and is a waste of money and resources."
Riverina Police District Inspector Adrian Telfer confirmed a car pursuit occurred Wednesday evening, but was unable to provide further detail.
