Wagga City Council has approved Commonwealth Bank's proposal to relocate its current Baylis Street store to increase the safety and security of customers.

The bank will move further north, near the Sturt Mall, to revitalise a vacant shop that used to house Thomas Jewellers and is aimed at providing modern banking facilities while improving the safety and security for customers.
The development application was lodged by Milestone Australia, a town-planning and construction firm, and is estimated to cost $71,580.
According to the development documents, the addition of lighting outside will operate 24 hours, seven days a week to provide "territorial reinforcement", safety for customers using the ATM during the night time period and to discourage loitering. As well as complementing the CBD.
A Commonwealth Bank spokesperson said the new store located at 145-147 Baylis Street will feature a more "innovative" space.
"We have invested in our presence in Wagga the new branch will showcase our new state of the art design, with the latest in banking technology including coin counting devices, 24/7 access to ATMs with instant deposit capability and a change machine," the spokesperson said.
"Commonwealth Bank has served customers in Wagga since 1914 and we look forward to welcoming everyone over to the upgraded branch on 17 June.
"Customers can rest assured our existing South Wagga branch will continue to operate as usual for customers while this refurbishment is underway."
