Returning coach Josh Harris has been away from the past two seasons, which resulted in two grand final wins, but believes there is a good feeling within the group heading into their opening clash with Kildare Catholic College on Monday.
"I would say we are pretty confident even with a few injuries," Harris said.
"We've been putting together a few good training runs and have been quite consistent.
"The boys are really confident and we have been going about things the right way."
There is a core group of six or seven from last year's success, along with plenty of promising youngsters.
The team have been training since the first day of term and Harris admitted he had a hard time reducing his squad.
"We've got a pretty strong team," Harris said.
"There's a group of six or seven that played last year with a fair few younger fellas up and coming as well.
"They are ready to step up to the plate and they've definitely impressed me in training."
The defending champs have been dealt a blow with Ben Cronin picking up an injury on representative commitments.
Harris doesn't expect he will be sidelined for too long.
He's been looking to instill a real pride in the competition and hopes it will help them start well against their big rival.
The Pool B clash between Kooringal High and The Riverina Anglican College starts the competition at 4.30pm with Wagga High and Kildare to follow at 5.30pm.
The competition continues on Wednesday before the last pool games next week.
