With 40,155 votes counted, Dr McGirr had 18,207, or 45.34 per cent of the primary vote.
The Nationals' Mackenna Powell has 10,621, which gives her 26.45 per cent.
More than 11,600 people took advantage of prepoll voting in Wagga and cast their ballot ahead of election day.
Dr McGirr, who was elected at at byelection just six months ago, took 5557 of those early ballots.
In a two-candidate comparison between Dr McGirr and Ms Powell, Dr McGirr is at a commanding 65.22 per cent.
In neighbouring Cootamundra, incumbent Steph Cooke has a commanding lead.
With 32,999 votes counted, The Nationals MP, who was facing her first full election after coming in at a byelection, has 20,816, which gives her 63.08 per cent of the primary vote.
In Murray, the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers candidate Helen Dalton has 13,636 of the 34058 votes already counted, which put her on 40.04 per cent.
The Nationals' Austin Evans has 35.70 per cent with 12,159.
