Brayden Sharrock will be sidelined to begin their premiership assault after sustaining a knee injury during the week.
A regular with police football commitments, Sharrock Sharrock was on crutches as Brothers retained the Dave Mavroudis Memorial Shield with a 34-20 win on Saturday.
Captain-coach Peter Little expects he will miss the next month.
"It's more of a precaution and he's just going to rest it up for now," Little said.
"That's the best thing about this year, we've got plenty of quality forwards to do the job for us but we are looking at about four weeks for Brayden."
It was a tale of two halves in the annual clash with Coogee at Parramore Park.
Brothers were all over the Dolphins in the first half as the dominated possession, field position and on the scoreboard.
Jackson Newling opened the scoring as the Wagga side spread it wide off a scrum 10 metres out from the line.
It was the only points of the first quarter but in the second Brothers took the game away from their Sydney rivals.
First Dylan McLachlan was able to score after regaining his own spilled kick.
In the next set Cade Price made a break before putting Little away.
Little was in again minutes later before Newling went over for his second after a 70-metre run to put Brothers up 28-0 at half-time.
Coogee had plenty of injury troubles, especially after former Tumut enforcer Dan Killian went off early, but had the better of the third stanza.
They scored twice in the period and were the first to score in the fourth to cut the margin back to 14 points.
McLachlan scored to stop the rot before the Dolphins score late.
Little admitted his side switched off, but wasn't too concerned.
"I'm quite happy and quite exciting for what we've got coming once we get everyone to training," he said.
"I was more disappointed with our defence as I've been priding ourselves in the last couple of weeks with our defence but we had a few new guys come in to help us out and they are not really used to the structure we are trying to play."
Sharrock wasn't the only Brothers big name on the sidelines.
After missing the nines, Ethan MacKenzie also sat out the trial.
Halfback Cameron Breust is still on the comeback after ankle surgery last year.
Tyson McLachlan also injured his ankle in the trial win.
Brothers travel to Tumut to play the Blues in a round one blockbuster on April 7.
