Bennelong Dancer and Lady Mironton will both have their last public hit-outs in the trial before contesting the $500,000 Country Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick on April 6.
Wagga trainer Wayne Carroll did nominate Lady Mironton for the $50,000 City Handicap (1175m) on the same day at Albury but the trial was always his preferred option.
"That's the way I wanted to go and it's great that the stewards put the trial on," Carroll said.
"I'm keeping her on the fresher side and a trial is better than giving her another run.
"I gave her five days in the paddock after Albury and she wasn't happy in the paddock so I brought her back in. She's had a couple of good gallops and her work has been fantastic."
Carroll will tinker with Lady Mironton's gear in the trial and add winkers.
"We're just playing with a bit of gear. She always tries but this is to keep her sharp for 1400 metres," he said.
"Then if she needs blinkers after the trial we will go to blinkers."
Carroll said the programming before the heat and final was one area that could be improved going forward.
"The City Handicap was the only race available for her and Bennelong Dancer and you have got to be really cranked up for a City Handicap," he said.
"For future purposes, it does need to be looked at which races are available for horses before and between the championships timeframe."
