The second part of the inaugural young drivers series will be run at Young with two more races to wrap up the concept.
Five drivers from NSW and five from Victoria were selected to compete in memory of Dewar, who lost his life driving home to Young after racing at Shepparton last year.
Micallef and Dewar were the best of mates and the 20-year-old was thrilled to win aboard the Riverina-owned Major McRae at Shepparton earlier this month.
"It's always a privilege to win a race but when you win something that is close to home it makes it that little bit more special," Micallef said.
"A lot of his family went down and watched it so it was really good."
He's hoping for more success after drawing Dennis Picker's Miss Fernandez and Beautifulvengeance for Anthony Winnell.
Especially with so many of Dewar's friends and family expected to be watching on.
"I've got a good barrier draw in the first one and it (Miss Fernandez) looks to be a very good chance," he said.
"In the second I've got a nice little sit-sprint horse."
Micallef and Codi Rauchenberger dominate the standings for the NSW drivers after taking a win and a second each at Shepparton on March 15.
