South Wagga Apex invite families and friends to cast a line into the Murrumbidgee river, and member Mathew Longmore said they're expecting a turnout of up to 450 people.

Issues surrounding low water levels are of 'no concern at all' according to Mr Longmore, and questions of danger to the river's turtles raised last year have been addressed through education.

"Every time someone registers on Sunday morning they'll be given some information regarding turtles and the management of them, and council along with Apex have worked out that a minimal amount of fishing on one morning per year won't have too much of an impact especially if done correctly," he said.

Thousands of dollars of prizes are up for grabs, and registrations kick off at 6am Sunday.
