Narrandera Rotarians who cycled the Narrandera to Lockhart leg were Bob Manning and Barry Morrice. Robert Kirk of the Narrandera Bicycle Users Group completed the team trio. Well done to all participants.
BUSH FESTIVAL
Narrandera’s 25th John O’Brien Bush Festival is on this weekend, with most of the activities in and around Marie Bashir Park.
The event will be faithful to its roots in the traditional poetic way, but changes have been incorporated to update and refresh the festival’s appeal.
It will be a family affair and will include poetry, local history tours on the Lions train around the southern part of Narrandera township, live music, busking, an endless variety of edible fare and Geoffrey Graham’s Ancient Warriors self-defence classes for ages 9 to 90 at Bidgee Boxing in Bolton Street.
The well-stocked Can Assist Bookshop along with op shops and other boutique-type shops boasting clothing, delicious fare, collectibles, and even furniture will be open over the weekend.
The Tin Shed Rattlers Band will get the evening festivities under way at a fair dinkum bush dance in the park on Saturday evening.
Part of the park will be given over to a temporary Tudor-styled Irish pub called Hartigans, where Yenda Beer will offer green beer and other craft beers. The committee hopes this year’s events will attract a younger demographic.
WORKSHOP
If you are into harp music, local musicians Rachel Warren and Hilary Manning and JOB favourite Christine Middleton will host a workshop for beginner to intermediate level harpists on Saturday, March 16. The event will be staged at the CRC Church Hall, Bolton Street from 10am-1pm.
