Moonie's March will travel from Kindra Park to the Coolamon Showground, walking a lap of track, and back again on Saturday, on what would have been Garry Armstrong's 57th birthday.
Armstrong, who lost his cancer battle in June, had strong ties to the Hoppers and the harness racing club.
His family thought the day would be a great way to honour his memory and to raise funds.
"We wanted to do something for cancer research and dad's birthday just falls on Saturday so we thought it would be something good to recognise him and his contribution," daughter Sarah Armstrong said.
"He was heavily involved in both the footy and the harness racing so we wanted to recognise both those clubs."
After the five kilometre journey a new shed will be named in Armstrong's honour at Kindra Park.
A 20 per cent share in pacer Ima Regal Jet is up for auction with all training expenses donated by Shane and Kim Hillier.
Ima Regal Jet was a 23-start maiden before being purchased by Liam Armstrong and Luke McLaughlin but has won his only two starts for his new connections and is racing again at Young on Saturday.
Also up for grabs is a $3000 breeders certificate from Harness Racing NSW plus a raffle with prizes including a $500 voucher from Rural Supplies, a Winx pack and jewelry.
