The new name will kick in as of April 1, bringing the regional sector back to the same overarching organisation it has been a part of since 2004.

Riverina Regional manager of Regional Imaging, Nic Carusella, said the choice was based on their growing national identity.

"Regional Imaging will still have the same staff and quality of service, just under a new name," he said.

"The united name will bring everyone together and mean wherever you go in future, your details will be in the system so there'll be a better understanding of medical backgrounds and treatments needed."

Mr Carusella also said the re-brand will mean easier access for regional patients. 

"It will allow for easier cross-referencing and getting second opinions, so you can get the scans done in Wagga but read elsewhere where experts on specific issues are based," he said.
