Sitting well off the speed, Noble Descent ($3.80) produced a strong finish to run past leader Cha Cha Rule ($13) in the final 100 metres and down Tudor Rule ($13) by 1¼ lengths.

Colvin wasn't concern with where the six-year-old settled, and it now looking to attack Albury's feature races next week.

He's looking at starts in either the Albury Gold Cup on March 22 or the Albury Mile the previous day.

"There's two options in Albury at cup time, the Mile or the Albury Cup," Colvin said.

"I'll see how he pulls up but nominate for both and see how he goes there.

"I just hope he can hold his form as we will probably go to the Murrumbidgee Cup then to see if we can get into the Wagga Cup.

"But we will be patient with him, let him do the talking, and make up our minds in the next couple of weeks."

The win in the $35,000 feature almost didn't happen with Noble Descent nearly scratched.

However some last minute work convinced the Wagga trainer he was right to go.

"I was on the verge of scratching him on Saturday morning," Colvin said. "He had a bit of a bruised heel and I worked him to make sure everything was right.

"I was very happy so we went ahead and luckily we did."

A bowed tendon curtailed a promising start to his career, but Colvin is thrilled the patience of connections is starting to return dividends.

It was one of three winners for the region's leading jockey Blaike McDougall after riding Jester Angel and Galaxy Force to victory in the first two races.
