A three-goal opening term proved to be the difference as the Swans came away 5.6 (30) to 2.2 (14) win over the defending premiers.
The Swans were running without any replacements, and coach Trevor Richards was proud of how his side stuck to their guns.
"It was sensational especially since we started that game a bit down on troops," he said.
"We only played with 15 instead of 16. It was a great effort."
Mel Bonetti got the ball rolling for the Swans side before Em Preston and Paris Crelley hit the scoreboard to give the Swans a 21-0 lead at the first break.
Jenna Richards kicked the only goal of the second term as the Swans held the CSU side scoreless for the first half.
CSU got the final two goals of the game to see them close the margin, but the fast start from the Swans proved to be enough.
The visiting side pushed hard to try and get back into the game, but the Swans defence was able to withstand the pressure.
"They came hard at the ball and played strong, but our girls just kept working hard and just kept pushing up and putting pressure on," he said.
"We had no replacements, so we were always going to get a bit run over at the end so I'm really proud of how they performed."
The Swans will make the trip to Lockhart to take on the Brookdale Bluebirds on Friday.
