The Daily Advertiser asked people celebrating in Victory Memorial Gardens what the event meant to them.
Though many declared they were lost for words after Saturday's inaugural Wagga Mardi Gras, when they eventually found some, what came out was remarkably similar.
In the end, the message was a simple one of love, respect and acceptance.
