Wanderers' under 13s, 14s, 16s and 18s boys teams formally kicked off the club's move to Capital Football's National Premier League competitions last weekend taking on Canberra FC in the opening round.
While the 13s (who suffered a 2-1 loss) and 14s (a 4-0 loss) went down, the under 16s grabbed a point with a 2-2 draw and the under 18s ensured cause for celebration with a 3-1 victory.
"Playing against Canberra FC, they're one of the powerhouses of Canberra soccer. They're a massive club and have been around for a long time," Dedini said.
"The excitement for the boys, speaking to the younger ones, they were a bit nervous playing on the main stadium. For 13 and 14-year-olds, walking on to the stadium pitch and seeing the grandstands, it was a massive buzz for them.
"The feedback was great. All in all the coaches were happy… the younger ages we're in it for development. But the 16s were competitive and the 18s showed after a big pre-season and a few years playing together under Andrew Mason that they're in for a good year."
The boys teams return to Canberra this weekend to take on Brindabella Blues in round two. The Wanderers are away for the first month of competition while grounds in Wagga are prepared for the season ahead.
The NPL women's competitions begin at the end of the month while the Wanderers' men's side will kick off its season at home on April 6.
