Italian classes are back at the library. Last month the library, in partnership with Italian teacher Toni Comerford, ran a series of four introductory Italian classes for adults and children. The demand for the classes was so overwhelming that two more adult classes will be offered from March 23.

Each session is one-hour and is suitable for adults with a desire to travel to Italy one day. Toni Comerford lives in Wagga and her interest in teaching the Italian language began eight years ago, when she learned Italian in order to teach her own children. Toni has undertaken studies in Italian through the University of New England and is studying to be certified by the University of Siena.
Topics covered in the class are a short history of the Italian language, greetings, numbers, asking for things in Italian, asking for directions in Italian and shopping in Italy. Places are limited and bookings are essential. Contact the library on 69269700 or email wcl@wagga.nsw.gov.au
Coming up in April Alliance Francaise de Wagga Wagga present French for Travellers a two-hour crash course for holidaymakers to learn essential words and phrases for your next trip to France or a French speaking country.
The Alliance Française de Wagga Wagga is a not for profit cultural organisation founded in 1972. It provides French language classes, promotes French language and culture and encourages linguistic and cultural exchanges.
French for Travellers, is presented as part of FRESH 2019 and will be held in the Library’s Community Learning Space on April 17 and 24 from 10am to noon.
The fee is $15 for this class. Bookings are essential and can be made directly through Alliance Francaise de Wagga Wagga by emailing www.afwaggawagga.org.au or phoning 0438 107 658.
The Language Café assists residents who have English as their second or sometimes third language.
Our classes have an informal friendly atmosphere so participants can strengthen their conversational English language skills, build new social networks and improve their listening skills with the assistance of trained volunteers. Classes are free, every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Saturday sessions have become increasingly popular, with volunteers especially needed for the weekend class. Volunteers with teaching experience are especially encouraged to lend a hand.
