The year 12 Kooringal High School student has been selected for the under 17s Australian squad to tour New Zealand in April.
From there the squad of 30 will be halved for the World Cup.
The 18-year-old is looking to put his best foot forward in front of selectors.
"I've always wanted to play for Australia," Piercy said.
"It is as far as you can get."
Piercy already has international experience representing Australia as part of the Friendship Games with invitational teams from New Zealand, Japan and the United States coming to play in Brisbane last year.
With changes to the age divisions this year Piercy was unsure if he would be eligible but will sneak in.
It came as a relief.
"I was a bit nervous as they were undecided on what age is would finally be but decided I would be the top age," he said.
"I'll go to play in February if I get picked."
Piercy was also named in the NSW CHS team for the third year running and will soon head to Sydney to trial for the NSW All Schools team after making into the team last year.
The selection is just reward for the teenager who travels to Canberra every Monday to play.
