With ACT under 17s representative Paris Hall on the pitcher's mound, Mater Dei went into the final against a young Kooringal High School side as heavy favourites.
They justified that tag with a 5-0 victory at French Fields on Tuesday.
However play was called off after three innings due to lightning.
While disappointed not being able to play out the full game, coach Nathan Irvine was impressed with the team's efforts.
"Our girls played really well," Irvine said.
"Kooringal fielded well, there were some pretty spectacular catches in the field, so it could have been an even bigger score.
"We were lucky to have a good team performance with our hitting while Paris Hall pitched very well."
Kooringal High were in trouble after Kildare loaded the bases in their first three at bats.
However young pitcher Alex Maiden worked her way out of the tricky situation.
A double play helped relieve some of the pressure before the year seven student completed the third out.
Kooringal High couldn't get on the board in their first innings before Mater Dei continued to pile on the pressure.
With runners in scoring positions this time the heavy favourites capitalised on a couple of errors in the field.
They scored three times before shutting out Kooringal once more.
Mater Dei added two more runs in the third innings before the weather set in and the decision was made to hand them the title.
After coming up short against Kooringal in the last two finals, Irvine was thrilled to finally get their names on the trophy.
"I've been here for seven years and in my first year we were struggling to put a team together," he said.
"We'd rotate through four or five pitchers each game trying to find someone to be able to put it over the plate.
"We've had some very lean years but the last two years we've played Kooringal in the final, they've won those games, but have been working towards it and hoped this year would be our year and it turned out that way."
