While drivers and trainers are excited to see some change with the new track they will also have to make some changes of their own, according to race caller Allan Hull.
"All tracks are the same but they're all different and drivers will have to drive differently on this track because of the sprint lane," Mr Hull said during one of test meetings.
"It will not suit everyone and drivers will need a bit of re-education.
"It will influence the way races are run.
"I'm not in favour of it but for as many people who are against it there are just as many for it."
Three horses used the sprint lane to win at a trial race on the new track recently including Brobenah Boy driven by Will Rixon (pictured).
The sprint lane is only on new tracks in NSW with Bathurst and Wagga the most recent tracks to add it.
It is an extra lane on the inside which drivers are allowed to move into during the last lap of the race.
This gives the horses behind the leader a chance to win by moving into the lane.
Harness Racing NSW CEO John Dumesny is thrilled to see the sprint lane used so much at Wagga during trial races.
"It's a brand new feature in Wagga and it's been used a lot," he said.
"It gives a great advantage
"There is one in Bathurst but it hardly gets used.
"Punters can be confident the horses are not deliberately held up and everyone has an equal opportunity
"The sprint lane well and truly gives advantage to the horses behind the leader."
