It comes after police attended a large-scale brawl that involved up to 100 people in Ashmont during the early hours of Saturday.
The operation by Wagga police requested the help of specialists units: the public order and riot squad, operations-support group and police rescue.
On Sunday afternoon, acting police inspector Steven Magnoe said that while there were no arrests yet, the operation would continue on Sunday night.
In a statement, the Riverina Police District said the operation was to ensure the safety and of people and property.
"Officers plan on speaking with several people who are out and about in order to guarantee public order is maintained," police said.
The operation comes following the RPD's launch of Strike Force Chausson to tackle property crime, robberies and motor-vehicle theft across the city.
