Acting Superintendent Andrew Spliet said a 21-year-old Ashmont man was arrested as part Strike Force Chausson, which was launched in January to tackle property crime, robberies and motor vehicle theft.

 "The male was arrested after police received information that he was at an address in Narrandera," he said.

"The proactive crime unit attended the address and later found that male hiding in a freezer.

"He has been charged with 23 offences; they were mainly property related matters, break and enter, being carried in a stolen conveyance, fraud related matters, police pursuits as well as three warrants."

​The Daily Advertiser understands that some of the charges were related to a 'ram raid' burglary of a Wagga bottle shop, a bag snatch robbery and a car stolen from Coolamon in December.

DNA and fingerprints taken from objects allegedly thrown by the suspect from a vehicle during a police pursuit assisted in the investigation.

Some of the Facebook messages the suspect sent to police included references to a shootout with officers but the arrest ended with the man attempting to hide at the bottom of a large chest freezer.

Superintendent Spliet said police had been investigating a group of suspects connected to property crime in Wagga.

"It was a great result that he has been arrested and charged with a number of offences.

"Bail has been refused...he will attend a Narrandera Court (on Thursday).

"It's an ongoing investigation for us. We are still looking for two males that we believe have been involved in a string of offences.

The NSW Police air unit also assisted with the arrest in Narrandera.

Superintendent Spliet said police were making progress on their crackdown on property crime.

"Eight males are still in custody in relation to offences and will have their relevant day in court," he said.

"It's a great police and there have been some great investigations undertaken to put these people before the courts for a number of serious offences."
