Colvin will launch a two-pronged attack on the $150,000 Country Championships SDRA Qualifier (1400m) at Albury on Saturday, courtesy of Forever Newyork and Tully Toff.
Forever Newyork will spearhead Colvin's charge and enters the race as one of the favourites, courtesy of a last-start metropolitan victory.
Forever Newyork finished second in the race two years ago, beaten in a photo finish, then was a scratching last year due to injury.
Colvin believes Forever Newyork can deliver him his first victory in the qualifier.
"It's probably my best chance because he's 100 per cent," Colvin said.
"Two years ago we put him in to see what happened and he ran second first up and then it flattened him.
"Last year we had some trouble with him and we had to scratch him.
"This year, everything has turned out pretty good so it's our best chance."
Forever Newyork is owned by a big group from Wagga, who have been extremely patient as Colvin nursed the horse back to full flight.
With the profile of the Country Championships growing with every year, Colvin said it is a race he would love to win.
"It's a great race and everyone is talking about it," he said.
"People are starting to get horses for the race now, before they were throwing them in and hoping for the best. Now everyone is getting them ready for it and you have got to be smart with how you do it.
"It's a hard race, a very hard race. A bit of luck will tell the story. You've got to get a nice run because they are all of about the same ability. A bit of luck will make a big difference."
Forever Newyork will be ridden by Jake Duffy, while Nick Souquet had been booked to ride Tully Toff.
Tully Toff convinced Colvin of his place in the race with a strong trackwork gallop this week.
Colvin put his last start failure at Warwick Farm down to the wet track.
