Miss Burgess' passion for dance took her to America for their version of the show, as well as choreographing dances for movies and now judging fellow performers on Australia's hit television show as the first live episode aired on Monday night.
The star said coming back to Australian television has been a highlight of her career.
"I never would have imagined I'd be sitting at that judging panel, I know I've been on American tele for last 7 to 8 years, and even on movie sets, but coming home and being on Aussie tele is the most exciting thing to date," she said.
"I get to have my family watching and coming along to shows and friends from home - it's something else."
Miss Burgess said while she enjoys judging, it is hard to watch her fellow performers and not join in the movement.
"I’m always gonna be jealous watching and not getting to join in but it felt so good sitting behind the desk and I have so much to offer after years of work," she said.
"I do love my panel, I love that we are so different, I’ve known Tristan since our late teens working on the same production in London, and he’s wonderful talent.
"Craig is brutally honest, but he really does have some great things to say, so we're lucky to have him, so much knowledge and experience."
The talent on this season of Dancing With The Stars is inspiring according the the new judge.
"It was an epic first episode, so much fun and also incredibly inspiring to sit and watch them all give their heart and soul against all odds and even against the haters," she said.
"They demonstrated so much bravery getting up there, and the talent is so great - such a diverse cast with all levels, all different personalities and talent.
"They're all consistent and hungry for that win, putting in 150 per cent."
Miss Burgess said there is a lot to look forward to this season, for both the audience and herself.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the celebrities pushed beyond their limits - that's what it takes - survival of the fittest," she said.
"One of my favourite weeks coming up is the 'most memorable moment' where celebrities tell a story of their own which is a really beautiful week to learn their backstory."
The born performer said her days of being on the stage are far from over.
"I am really hoping I get to make an appearance this season and I’ve been talking to producers asking to get on stage," she said.
"I'm definitely not finished with my dancing journey, there's a lot more in the works, but I think this season you will see me up there on the dance floor at some stage - there's no holding me back."
