Jewitt will catch his first glimpse of his Cherrypickers squad under match conditions when they meet Mudgee Dragons in the last of the opening round games on Friday night at Ron Crowe Oval.
Young will be without the returning Blake Hewitt and Nayah Freeman but will unveil a number of their recruits at West Wyalong, including Fijian centre Boro Navari.
"We're not going to be quite at full-strength and it's hard to know what our first grade side's going to be at this stage but there are a few players who aren't going to be available," Jewitt said.
"It would have been nice to go over there at full-strength but that's not the case."
While Jewitt is keen for his squad to blow off the cobwebs, he would love nothing more than to see Young capture the coveted pre-season knockout.
"Obviously it would be nice to win it, but it would be nice to get to the semis and the final," he said.
"There's no pressure, we're just going to go over there and blow some cobwebs off and see how we go basically.
"It would be nice (to get through to the pointy end), that's the reason we're going there, absolutely."
Jewitt is happy with the depth at his disposal at the Cherrypickers but concedes it may take some time for new combinations to 'click' in the 2019 Group Nine season.
He does not know what to expect from Mudgee on Friday night, but is well aware of the capabilities of the Dragons' new captain-coach Jack Littlejohn.
Jewitt coached Littlejohn at Riverina representative level as a junior and has followed his career over the years.
