Totally $20 million, Saturday’s draw was observed by 12 national division one entries. Each entry took home $1,666,666.67.
Confirming her win with a NSW Lotteries official this afternoon, the woman was initially in shock.
“It’s a bit hard to take in,” she said.
“It feels like it’s not real.
“I saw on Facebook that an unregistered player in Adelong had won division one, and I thought I better check my ticket.
“So I went into the newsagency to check my ticket and sure enough it was me.
“I really can’t believe it.”
The retiree revealed she’d been playing Saturday Lotto for decades but had never imagined how she’d spend more than $1.6 million.
“I will really have to think about it,” she explained.
“We might go on a big holiday to Canada.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased their winning 50 game QuickPick at Adelong Newsagency, 57 Tumut Street, Adelong.
Adelong Newsagency owner Cheri Ryan said this entry is the first division one winning entry the team has sold in eight years.
“Our first thought was that we must have read the results wrong,” she laughed.
“As you can imagine in a town of only one thousand people there has been plenty of excitement and much speculation on the possibility of a local being the winner.
“We have sold a few division two winning entries in the past but this is the first entry we’ve sold worth more than $1 million.
“We wish the lucky winner all the best and really hope it does improve their life.”
In 2018, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto created 194 millionaires across Australia.
