A passion to ensure all members of his community are able to reach their full potential is what saw Paul Humble become principal at The Riverina Anglican College.
While he leads the schools, Mr Humble also teaches.
“I have always taught history and will continue to do so," he said.
"I don’t think anyone gets into teaching to become a principal so in my opinion it is important for the head of the school to maintain a presence in the classroom. My year 9 History class is my sanctuary."
Before taking on the principal position Mr Humble worked in schools for 20 years including as deputy principal at two schools, head of wellbeing, head of the history faculty, head of house and a year coordinator.
While Mr Humble didn’t get into teaching with the aim of becoming a principal his interests and skills made it an obvious choice.
"It was the realisation that I had a specific skill set and passion for working not only with young men and women, but within a community," Mr Humble said.
While he wanted to lead a school, he didn't want to do it in a metropolitan area.
"I was never interested in taking on a principalship in Sydney or Melbourne – I always looked for a rural or regional community and Wagga was perfect," Mr Humble said.
"At the heart of it all though is a passion and drive to ensure that all members of my community are able to reach their full potential in a collaborative, academically rigorous school with outstanding cocurricular opportunities.
"My goal each day at The Riverina Anglican College is to empower all people to be the best they can be."
The best part of the job for Mr Humble is "meeting with aspiring families to discuss the future of their children."
"The choice of school is such an important decision and being able to guide parents and children is a privilege I cherish," he said.
"Working with a team of brilliant professionals is also something I cherish.
"The team are exceptional and I am in awe of their capacity to give everything they have to the students each and every day.
"Both the staff and students inspire me to be the best I can be each day."
