A female passenger in the car was injured.
Riverina District Police Inspector Peter McLay said the vehicle collided with a gutter in Erin Street, Turvey Park at about 1.40am after a short pursuit.
“That 28-year-old male was subsequently placed under arrest after he attempted to flee the scene,” Inspector McLay said.
“He has been charged with a number of offences including possession of a prohibited drug, police pursuit not stop, unlicensed driving and a number of other offence.
“He will appear in court in Wagga on the 25th of February.”
The man will also face a trespass charge after allegedly entering a house following the crash.
Inspector McLay said there was a female passenger in the car.
“She was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries to her arm,” he said.
Police originally encountered the vehicle when they attempted an intercept for a random breath test earlier in the morning on Dobney Avenue.
“The vehicle failed to stop and was engaged; that pursuit lasted for several minutes before the vehicle lost control,” Inspector McLay said.
Inspector McLay was unable to provide the vehicle speeds recorded by police during the pursuit.
