Anna Roberts received the keys to the school last year and has entered her first official role as principal, following four years at Lake Albert Public School.
“I’m feeling good, change is good and it’s a great school that has been really welcoming,” Ms Roberts said.
“I did some relieving principal roles at Lake Albert but this is my first official role and it’s been a good learning curve, not too hard in the finding out of things.”
Ms Roberts has spent a lot of time across Wagga schools and said at core values of teachers caring for their students and students eager to learn have remained the same.
“I’m going to watch and see what routines there are here and there are some great things happening and I want to see why it is so good and what we are doing here that is right,” she said.
“I want to watch these things before I change anything in the school.
“But, I think bringing new eyes to the school will be a good thing.”
Ms Roberts said because it is only the fourth week of term, she has not come across major improvements that need to be changed.
“I haven’t been here long enough to find out what needs improving,” she said.
“I guess cosmetically, we can fix some cracks and plant some nice things in the spaces, but it seems to be a good, functioning and well-rounded school.”
Ms Roberts said she is impressed by the school devoting time for leadership and support.
“I really like the student leadership here, it’s really important and the school values it,” she said.
“We had an induction ceremony this morning and it was really solemn and important and supporting students, in terms of their well being is a really strong point here.
“I really like the way we do student leadership here and all the way from little people to the school captains, SRC members and sport house captains.”
