More than 1000 people took advantage of sunny skies and a dry track to enjoy the six-race program, Tumut Turf Club secretary-treasurer Alicia Hargreaves said.
“It was just a great day. We had good weather and a good turnout,” Ms Hargreaves said.
The Tumut Cup has been running since the 1850s, but there was some interruptions during the two world wars and the Depression.
Some debate over the name of the early race meetings have also made it difficult to pinpoint exactly how many times the historic event has been staged.
But how ever many times it has been, the race day remains a solid fixture on the calendar for many people.
