Wagga trainer Tim Donnelly believes Pontmain can maintain his unbeaten record at Randwick on Saturday.
Pontmain is one of two Southern District horses in Saturday's $75,000 TAB Highway Class Three Handicap (1800m).
Exciting Albury stayer Nothin' Like Harry is the well-backed $2.50 favourite, while there has also been support for Pontmain, who is now at $7.00.
He believes he can back up the debut victory with a Highway win at Randwick.
"Absolutely," he said.
"I had this race picked out a long time ago. I actually got an invite in December to one of my best mate's birthdays this weekend and I said then that I don't think I can go.
"They only have two of these races (1800m Highways) a year so we picked this one out."
Helping Pontmain's chances is the booking of star jockey Kerrin McEvoy.
"I think he'll run well for sure. His true weight is 51.5kg so he has 1.5kg on that but I think he has enough upside to cover that.
"Obviously the top weight (Nothin' Like Harry) will be hard to beat. He's run in stronger races but we do get seven kilos off him.
"McEvoy has one ride for the day at 53kg so hopefully that is a good sign."
Pontmain is owned by Gundagai's Tony and Bill Barton.
