Feel The Knight ($3.40) could hardly have been more impressive on debut, racing away with the Cocktail Lounge On Cup Day 3YO & Up Maiden Plate (1000m).
Chad Lever took Feel The Knight straight to the front and the three-year-old bolted in by 1¾ lengths in a time of 57.31 seconds.
It was his stablemate doing the chasing, as Designer Dance ($11.00) worked home strongly to grab second.
Emma Longmire could not have been happier.
"It was the perfect result," Longmire said.
Longmire has a big opinion of the winner.
"Initially after the trial we were going to turn him out but he kept improving and kept improving," she said.
"He's still very raw but has shown natural talent.
"He's very competitive this horse...and will be a better horse after a spell."
Brunela ($8.50) ran on strongly for an eye-catching third.
