More than 220 triathletes participated in the popular third leg of the Riverina Tri-Series last year – roughly 70 more than 2017's field – with particularly strong numbers in the open sprint event.
Still, the early signs are good for another record-breaker and Mazzocchi has high hopes.
"It's looking like a really big field this year," he said.
"Traditionally the Friday and Saturday leading in are our biggest days for registration but things are going well already.
"Last year we had a couple of hundred out there running around and we're hoping for much of the same."
The Mazzocchi clan enjoyed success on all fronts last year with Briony Mazzocchi completing the course (2km run, 20km cycle, 200m swim, 4km run) in one hour, eight minutes and 36 seconds to edge Chloe Harper for the women's title.
Meanwhile, Wagga's Dan Judd took out the 2018 men's title in a time of one hour and 17 seconds, seeing off Max Norman and Will Maclean for top spot.
Mazzocchi said last year's course had been retained and predicted cool conditions for the early starters.
"It's nice and flat and fast out there, so I think we'll see some good races."
"We always get good competitors from Wagga because we're only 20 minutes away and the weather should stay clear and we'll have cool conditions for the 9am start."
The first race (sub-junior) kicks off at 8.15am this Sunday with the open sprint event commencing at 9.15am.
