The under 16 girls side were the cream of the crop, fighting their way into the division three grand final and emerging 27-19 victors to claim a slice of silverware for Wagga.
Basketball Wagga junior representative director Renelle Lancaster said it was a sensational result for the basketball community.
“They did such a terrific job and the girls really deserved it. We don’t usually win many games and other teams are coming off seasons, so we’re usually unprepared, but the under 16 girls were great and our other teams played some great basketball as well,” she said.
The under 16 boys ‘blue’ side went close to mirroring the girls before being bundled out in the semi finals while the under 14 boys and under 12 boys were unlucky not to progress to finals.
The under 18 boys, under 16 boys ‘orange’ and under 14 girls did not record wins.
