The eight-year-old was unveiled as the J9 division champion during last weekend’s junior state championships off the back of a strong season.
“It’s unbelievable really, she just loves bikes and we’re really proud of her,” dad Cameron Oke said.
“I think it’s actually harder being a parent watching her go around the track – it’s pretty nerve-wracking sometimes!”
Carrington, who’s affectionately known as CJ, becomes just the fifth Wagga girl to win the junior award in 27 years after Michelle Fearne (1998,200), Natasha Pearse (2001-03, 2005), Jessica Hume (2004), and Lucy Regan (2007).
A new perpetual shield has also been created for each age group this year by Cycling NSW which will be henceforth displayed at Dunc Gray Velodrome.
