Days after 20 drought-stricken Murray cod were successfully moved to specialist care at Narrandera, a second bid is being made to save some endangered fish.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries is hoping to get the stressed silver perch from their pool near the Menindee and take them to the Narrandera Fisheries Centre, where it is hoped they can be brought back to good health and eventually used for restocking around the Lower Darling River.
The rescued fish are being moved to their new home in style. They will travel by road in the DPI Fisheries’ fish stocking truck, which is aerated and temperature monitored.
Fisheries staff are also hoping to move Murray cod and gold perch to the Wentworth area.
The fish are being moved from an area on the Lower Darling River known as Weir 32, which was one of the locations of the mass fish kills reported in January.
