In blustery conditions, runs were hard to come by as both teams were shut out in their first two innings.
In the top of the third innings, the Warriors became the first to score when hits to Montana Kearnes and Jane Kearnes saw them both cross the plate.
In the bottom of the third, Desi Calder and Tessa McGlynn were batted in by Kadison Hofert to tie the game up and then a Pam Calder right field home-run added another three runs to give the Saints the lead for the first time.
Both teams were shut out in their fourth innings, but in the top of the fifth, Montana Kearnes was batted in by sister, Layhnee, enabling the Warriors to decrease the margin to two. A regulation three dismissals saw the Saints shut out, yet again in the bottom of their fifth.
The defence of the Saints was to the fore in the top of the sixth, dismissing the first two batters.
However a “two-down rally” instigated by Jess Swaysland and capped off by a Montana Kearnes left-field home run saw the Warriors draw level.
The Saints were shut out yet again, before the Saints did the same to the Warriors in the top of the seventh.
Needing just one run in the bottom of the seventh, Kadison Hofert gave them every chance with a three-bagger but was left stranded at third, leaving the scores tied.
The Saints will be full of confidence when they tackle Turvey Park next week, while minor premiers Warriors rest up before their semi-final on March 2.
