In the first game of the season, reigning champions Kooringal High were beaten by Mater Dei College, 8-3, in their grand final replay.
Kooringal has lost several important players who’ve graduated and relied on year seven student, Alex Maiden to do the pitching for them.
To the fore for Mater Dei were the Turvey Park quartet of Paris Hall, Jess Wendt, Charli Hall and Phoebe Wadley.
In the other game, Wagga High proved too strong for TRAC, winning 12-5.
However, Wagga scored all 12 of their runs in the first innings, and were shutout by an improving TRAC who rallied around their pitcher, Charli McNaughton.
On Monday afternoon, Kooringal meets TRAC, while Mater Dei locks horns with Mt Austin.
In Tuesday’s games, Kooringal take on Wagga High before Mt Austin clash with TRAC.
